Answer a few quick questions and we'll help you work out what steps are required for your tax return.

All questions refer to the tax year ended 5 April. Answer what you can — only your name and email are required.

    Did you receive any employment income during the year ended 5 April?

    Did you receive any employee benefits (beneficial loans, private medical/dental, company car etc) during the year ended 5 April?

    If you are permitted to work from home, has your employer reimbursed you for using your residence as your workplace in the year ended 5 April?

    Do you have a student loan?

  5. 5.

    If your personal taxable income was more than £50,000 in the year ended 5 April, did you receive any child benefit?

    Did you receive any dividends during the year ended 5 April?

  7. 7.

    Did you receive any interest on personal bank or building society accounts during the year ended 5 April?

  8. 8.

    Did you make any contributions into private pension schemes, other than contributions directly from your employer or company, during the year ended 5 April?

  9. 9.

    Were you in receipt of state pension during the year ended 5 April?

  10. 10.

    Were you in receipt of any other pension income during the year ended 5 April?

  11. 11.

    Were you in receipt of any taxable state benefits during the year ended 5 April?

    Excluding any paid or reimbursed by your limited company, did you pay any fees or subscriptions to a professional body during the year ended 5 April?

    Did you personally own (i.e. not owned by limited company or other vehicle) any letting properties during the year ended 5 April?

    Excluding donations made through your company, have you made any charitable donations under Gift Aid during the year ended 5 April?

  15. 15.

    Did you make any investments into a qualifying Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS), Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) or Venture Capital Trust during the year ended 5 April?

    Did you receive any income from overseas that was subject to deduction of local taxes during the year ended 5 April?

    Are you claiming non-residence for the year ended 5 April?

  18. 18.

    Do you have a spouse as a director, shareholder or employee of your limited company who is required to complete a personal tax return? (They will have received a notice from HMRC)

  19. 19.

    Did you receive any PPI or PCP compensation during the year ended 5 April?

  20. 20.

    Have you disposed of any capital assets during the year ended 5 April? (e.g. shares, letting property etc)

  21. 21.

    If you are self-employed (sole trader or partnership) have you made any Class 2 National Insurance contributions during the year ended 5 April?

  22. 22.

    Are you claiming seafarer deduction for the year ended 5 April?

  23. 23.

    Are you required to clean a work uniform or spend your own money on repairing or replacing equipment you need to do your job?
